Prevost Celebrates a Century of Excellence

“Anything worth doing is worth doing well.”

— Eugène Prévost

Prevost. The name is synonymous with luxury, innovation and freedom on the open road. For a century, this craftsmanship has helped define the motorcoach industry.

From humble beginnings in Quebec, Prevost has evolved into a global leader, setting the standard for comfort, safety and style.

In honor of Prevost’s 100th anniversary, join the celebration of a legacy built on passion, precision and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

The Birth of an Industry Icon

In 1924, Eugène Prévost, a skilled cabinetmaker from Sainte-Claire, Quebec, Canada, built his first wooden coach body on a REO truck chassis, marking the birth of an industry icon.

The initial order ignited a demand that propelled the company forward, culminating in the establishment of a dedicated bus manufacturing facility in Sainte-Claire by 1937.

This humble beginning laid the foundation for Prevost’s journey to become a legendary coach manufacturer, known for its commitment to quality, innovation and craftsmanship.

Key Milestones in Prevost’s History

Over the next few decades, Prevost achieved numerous key milestones that shaped its history. In the 1940s, the company transitioned from all-wood bodies to metal-paneled bodies over metal skeletons, showcasing its adaptability to changing technologies.

The 1960s saw the introduction of revolutionary designs, including the 1966 Prevost Champion, the first North American coach with an integral structure, featuring three axles, a split level and air conditioning.

Prevost Innovation Through the Decades

Innovation remained at the forefront of Prevost’s ethos throughout its history. In 1977, the company unveiled the Le Mirage, a futuristic passenger coach with roof-wrapping side windows and a rust-protected integrated frame.

This was followed by the introduction of the first North American 102-inch wide-body coaches and conversion shells in 1984, setting new industry standards.

Prevost Today

Today, Prevost stands as a global leader in motorcoach luxury, quality and visionary innovation. As part of the Volvo Group, Prevost has access to world-class resources and technology, further enhancing its ability to deliver exceptional products.

The company’s commitment to environmental stewardship is evident in its ISO 14001 certification for environmental management of manufacturing and design operations.
